Elaine Hughes was born and raised in Southern California. She creates her artwork with a palette knife because it gives her paintings beautiful texture and movement. The focus of Elaine’s artwork is on children and families. She has participated in numerous shows and competitions, winning many awards. Some awards include 1st Place at the Orange County Fair, 1994; 1st Place, Judges Award and Special Award at the Orange County Fair, 1995; 1st Place at the CMAL Show, 1995; 1st Place at the Sunset Beach Festival, 1999; Theme Award at the Orange County Fair, 2002. Most recently in 2005, Elaine was the Art-A-Fair Poster Artist and won the Juror’s Choice and Honorable Mention at the Orange County Fair.
